Gut microbiota depletion affects nutritional and behavioral responses to activity-based anorexia model in a sex-dependent manner

چکیده
Background & aims In the last decade, role of microbiota–gut–brain axis in eating behavior and anxiety-depressive disorders has gained increasing attention. Although a gut microbiota dysbiosis been reported anorectic patients, its pathophysiological remains poorly understood. Thus, we aimed to characterize potential by evaluating effects depletion Activity-Based Anorexia (ABA) mouse model both male female mice. Methods Male C57Bl/6 mice were submitted (ABA group) or not (CT ABA protocol, which combines access running wheel with progressive limited food access. Gut was previously depleted cocktail antibiotics (ATB) delivered oral gavages. We monitored body composition, anxiety-like behavior, leptin adiponectin plasma levels, hypothalamic hippocampal neuropeptides mRNA as well dopamine (DRD) serotonin (5HT1 4) receptors expression. Results response model, weight loss less pronounced ATB-treated compared untreated ABA, while intake remained unaffected ATB treatment. exhibited increased fat mass decreased lean mice, whereas but adipokine concentrations affected sex-dependent manner. Only showed reduced anticipatory physical activity Similarly, mainly associated male-specific alterations CRH DRD 5-HT1A levels. Conclusions Our study provides evidence that ATB-induced triggers nutritional behavioral responses activity-based anorexia

Impact of the Gut Microbiota on Vaccine Responses
Non-responsiveness or poor responsiveness to vaccines are challenging issues in vaccine development, and efforts have been made to find out the potential reasons for these conditions. Intestinal microbiome plays a key role in regulating and development of immune system and the composition and diversity of microbiota in different individuals on the one hand, and the imbalance of intestinal micro...
متن کاملInterleukin 6 deficiency affects spontaneous activity of mice in age- and sex-dependent manner.
We analyzed the role of interleukin 6 (IL-6) in modulation of the pattern of mice spontaneous activity. Wild type (WT) and IL-6 deficient mice of both sexes, young and aging, were housed individually and various types of their activity were recorded and analyzed with the Phenorack system in their home cages during 72 hours-long sessions. All investigated groups of mice were active mainly during...
متن کاملSex-dependent effects on gut microbiota regulate hepatic carcinogenic outcomes
Emerging evidence points to a strong association between sex and gut microbiota, bile acids (BAs), and gastrointestinal cancers. Here, we investigated the mechanistic link between microbiota and hepatocellular carcinogenesis using a streptozotocin-high fat diet (STZ-HFD) induced nonalcoholic steatohepatitis-hepatocellular carcinoma (NASH-HCC) murine model and compared results for both sexes. ST...
متن کاملIndividual diet has sex-dependent effects on vertebrate gut microbiota
Vertebrates harbour diverse communities of symbiotic gut microbes. Host diet is known to alter microbiota composition, implying that dietary treatments might alleviate diseases arising from altered microbial composition ('dysbiosis'). However, it remains unclear whether diet effects are general or depend on host genotype. Here we show that gut microbiota composition depends on interactions betw...
